Regenerate nature

By regenerating nature we give back to the planet; the planet we share, the planet that sustains us all.
The greatest benefits are local, but our reach is global.

What is regenerating nature?

Regenerating nature involves protecting and restoring natural assets, such as forests, wetlands, mangroves and seaweed for future generations. It’s about recognising the value of nature beyond economic terms and integrating it into climate solutions.

Natural areas are often threatened by human activities and land use.  Since humans arrived in Aotearoa, 90% of New Zealand’s wetlands have been lost, three quarters of New Zealand’s native bush has been burned or cut down, and at least 75 animal and plant species have gone extinct.

We can only truly thrive if we do so alongside our natural environment in all its diversity – especially valuing the unique nature of Te Taitokerau.

Take action

The health benefits alone of being in nature for you personally are worth it, so maybe the best way to start is to get out there. Consider ways to reduce pollution in the air and waterways around you, and then think about what you could do to help nature thrive.
